The Rules*

These are the rules* that I'm going to try live or eat by.  I won't stick to them 100% (an impossible goal), but I'll will try to stick to them as much as possible.

  • Basically don't be hungry: Eat as much as you want, but only as much as you need to not be hungry, which is often half of what is put on your plate.  If you only eat half your food, that's another meal you get for free.
  • Eat real food: a salad, chicken, steak, things that look like food grown or raised. Burgers for example are a mashup of what used to be real food, same for nuggets. Wheat product are a gray area, but should probably be avoided.
  • Try to avoid processed food as much as possible: if it was made in a factory or the list of ingredients are not things you can find at the grocery, try to avoid it.
  • Try to eat and prepare food at home as much as possible: restaurant, especially fast food, do things or add things to your food that you wouldn't at home. Could be extra salt, preservative, trans fats, high fructose corn syrup (or its boys sugar) or even an extra stick of butter.   Plus, it saves money to prepare and eat food at home. It's not always practical, but it's a goal.
  • Try to avoid starches and table sugar (sorry pasta, potatoes, white rice and white bread).  It's a very racist diet (shun most white food, my homeboy cauliflower is allowed though).  Again, perfect is impossible, but I try to limit them.
  • Try to avoid commercially fried foods.  Frying at home might not be perfect, but better than from a restaurant.
  • Drink plenty of water
  • No eating after 8 PM (OK, maybe nine - my bedtime is midnight usually.)
  • Get a good night sleep (about 8 hrs.) - which for me means getting to bed by midnight or earlier

       * I will adjust as needed.
